Show Details Shared Note: - Hi Patty Grandma's father's name was Willis Ira Rodkey; born in Cheery Tree, PA (born 1896); buried in Circle Hill Cemetery, Punxsutawney, PA (9/23/10) died of thyphoid fever. He was a gifted man; choir director in church; church deacon; painted in oils; was a cabinet maker; made and played violins; his favorites of the kids were the twins, Hilda and Wilda, and he took them every place with him; Leonard Rodkey looked very much like his father; walked and stood like him.

Information regarding Gammy is that she was born 1/30/79 in Knoxville, PA and she died in December 1952 in a nursing home in Youngstown, Ohio, USAio - brain cancer. Gammy's mother's name was Sarah Rachel Bish - she was born 11/8/1852 and died in January 1931. She married John Jacob Williams, who was born January 1852 and Died 5/3/1887.

Gammy lived in Knoxville as a girl. Her name was Anna Mae Williams. She was an excellent housekeeper and cook; excellent seamstress; baked every day of her life; baked 17 loves of bread twice a week; baked fresh pies and rolls; had a water powered washing machine did huge ironings; she iron dampened sheets ‏(I used to to that too)‏ and nylons; washed and stretches curtains very 2 weeks throughout the entire house; had 5 boarders; sewed for people ‏(in order to have income)‏; learned wall papering business and helped a contractor do that; she had encephalitis and was treated at the Cleveland Clinic with X-rays; and she died of brain cancer.

This information was supplied to me by Joan Hoefert, Aunt Wilda's daughter, who lives in Ashtabula, Ohio, USAio, USA. Joan also told me that Gammy actually had 13 pregnancies in her lifetime and that she tried to commit suicide several times because of this. This is the first that I had heard of this and have no way of confirming it. The twins would have been 8 years old when their father died and if they were his favorites he would have spent much more time with them. Joan said the twins raised the money for his grave marker - this was after they had reached marrying age and were able to have the money to do that.

This is a lot of information and I hope I have not inundated you with it. A lot of this information is new to me and I believe it would have been new to Ginny also. I don't think Bertie would have any memory of this information and that's why I didn't get in touch with her.

If you have any further questions or want any further information, let me know and I'll do my best to get it for you. I am still looking through my stuff here to see if there is any other information - have found some on Daddy's family but not mother's. I will keep looking. I wrote and thanked Joan for getting this information and supplying it - a lot of it is news to me too. Any comments, let me know. Good luck and you know I love you. DA
